I have been learning so much about men and their skincare routines or lack thereof, after I recently moved in with my boyfriend one of the things that I noticed was his skincare routine was pretty much non-existent. Whenever I would do my skincare routine he would always ask what I was doing and why.
I started to introduce some of my favorite staples to him to try and slowly I noticed a shift that I didn't have to keep reminding him to use it. He was using it on his own because I showed him some basic items that he could add in to his routine very easily. If you want to help upgrade his skincare routine here are some of my tips to help with the transition.
Cleansing Swaps:
In the shower- we made some soap swaps from toxic store-bought soap and toxic body washes to The Woodsman Goat's Milk Soap. It not only smells like you just took a walk in the woods with the woodsy essence of a unique blend of cedarwood palo santo, vanilla, black pepper, frankincense, & pine. It also has activated charcoal which is a great detox for their skin- gentle enough for daily cleansing. It will leave his skin clean, moisturized & smelling great! I love the scent so much I even use it myself too.
Lip care:
For lip care, this was an easy trade from his old toxic lip balm made packaged in a plastic tube. Once I showed him the benefits of having an Unscented Lip Balm that it can make his lips soft and moisturized without being too glossy or sticky he was all for it.
Lotion Swaps:
This was a bit more of a challenge to switch over he never used any lotion really, yet always complained about his dry and itchy skin. Once I showed him our unscented Pure Body Butter and how quickly it absorbed into the skin and how non-greasy it was he slowly came around. This is his favorite to add to his most dry spots now- like his knees, elbows, feet, and hands.
Even before bed- he has now adds Breathe Triple Whipped Body Butter (my personal favorite- it's our minty blend-cools you down in the summer and warms you up in the winter) on his feet before bed then wears socks to keep everything from getting on the sheets. This helps give the body a detox while you sleep, have a better deeper sleep, and also keeps your feet soft.
Face Care
Besides washing his face, other facial care was a foreign thing to add to his routine. Once he started to his this for his facial care after shaving, he noticed his face wasn't getting as irritated with all the razor bumps, he used to get, and even noticed that his beard was starting to come in better and even faster.
The key takeaway from this experience is that starting small and gradually incorporating new habits can yield remarkable results over time. For those embarking on a similar journey or seeking guidance in building their skincare routines, remember that every step, no matter how small, contributes to a healthier, happier you.
